ST. MARY’S PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
A TYPICAL PRESCHOOL DAY
CLASSES OFFERED

Each class has its own schedule, but our teachers are flexible and may adjust daily activities to meet the children’s interests and needs. A typical day for our Young 3 year old class might look like this:

9:00 Welcome and Free Play
9:15 Good Morning Circle
9:30 Free Play and Small Group Activities
10:30 Bathroom, Snack, Story
11:00 Circle Games
11:15 Playground
11:45 Dismissal

Each class meets monthly for Chapel Time and Science Seed, and bi-monthly for Music and Movement Classes.

Snack and drink is provided for our 3 and 4 year old classes. Pre-Kindergarten children bring a lunch and milk or water from home.

PARENT PARTICIPATION
Many of our monthly themes include parent participation. We believe we are in a partnership with families to provide a strong foundation for your children and try very hard to keep information flowing between us.

INCLEMENT WEATHER/SCHOOL CLOSINGS
St. Mary’s Preschool will observe the following emergency closing policy:

If Fairfax County Schools open one or two hours late, all sessions will open one hour late, unless parents are notified.

If Fairfax County Schools are closed due to the weather, St. Mary’s Preschool is closed.

In the event Fairfax County finds it necessary to close schools early due to hazardous winter conditions, all sessions will be cancelled. Parents are asked to pick up their child at St. Mary’s Preschool as soon as possible.

All our sessions will meet as scheduled when Fairfax County closes early due to heat.

All closings or delays are announced on WTOP.com and FCPS.edu

The Preschool also uses the REMIND APP to alert families of changes due to weather or events at the Church that would require a change in time and/or location for arrival/dismissal.

TUITION ANGELS SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Please consider giving the gift of “Catholic Education” by becoming a Tuition Angel to help families who do not have the financial ability to pay tuition for our Preschool Program. Thanks to the generosity of parishioners, tuition assistance can be offered to any family wanting to start the education process for their children at St. Mary’s Preschool. If you are interested in contributing to the scholarship fund, please contact Miss Michelle in the Preschool Office, 703-978-4557. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
